Hurwitz & Fine Senior Member Dan D. Kohane received the Ken Joyce Excellence in Teaching Award on Saturday, May 14th, 2022, at the UB School of Law’s 133rd Commencement ceremony. This award is designated for “a member of the adjunct faculty for excellent teaching and longstanding service to the School of Law.”

Liz focuses her practice in medical and dental malpractice, professional malpractice, legal professionalism and ethics, premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, railroad law, and general negligence litigation.

Stephen M. Sorrels has joined Hurwitz & Fine, P.C. as a litigation member in the firm's Buffalo office. Steve focuses his practice in medical and professional malpractice defense, nursing home litigation, municipal and governmental litigation, product liability, construction accidents, premises liability, school district liability and insurance defense litigation.

On Monday, April 11, 2022, Hurwitz & Fine Senior Member Dan D. Kohane was recognized and acclaimed in an article from Buffalo Business First regarding the lifetime achievement award he received from the Federation of Defense & Corporate Council (FDCC) last month.  

Hurwitz & Fine Insurance Coverage Senior Member Dan D. Kohane was awarded the FDCC Lifetime Achievement Award during the organization’s Winter Meeting. Each year, the FDCC recognizes one of its members who has become a legal leader in their community as well as a highly contributing member of the Federation. This award is given to one attorney per year who goes above and beyond as a leader in the law and whose reputation and influence transcends their legal career.

Business & Commercial Litigation Department Head Andrea Schillaci was recently interviewed on AM Buffalo for her involvement as President of the Buffalo-Niagara Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). The interview focused on International Women's Day and how NAWBO helps increase opportunities and celebrate business successes for women in the Western New York area

Briandi was recently appointed to the 2022 Amherst Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors during the Chamber’s Annual Meeting, for a term of three years. In this role, Jody will join area business leaders in helping the Chamber to advance its mission of nurturing a strong economic base, maintaining a high quality of life and promoting sound public policy for the Western New York region.

Jesse L. Siegel has joined Hurwitz & Fine, P.C. as a litigation attorney in the firm’s Melville office. Jesse focuses his practice on insurance defense, primarily defending against claims of personal injuries in the areas of automobile liability, premises liability, and construction accident litigation.

Michael J. Williams has joined Hurwitz & Fine, P.C. as special counsel in the firm’s general liability defense department. Mike will be focusing his practice on product liability, medical device litigation, defense of institutions involved in claims brought under New York’s Child Victims Act and municipal law with a focus on firefighters.

Since the beginning of October, Hurwitz & Fine’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee has been collecting personal hygiene and household items across the firm’s multiple offices to benefit the Buffalo United for Afghan Evacuees organization.
