The law firm was the first Buffalo-based firm to achieve this national diversity certification and has renewed its commitment in 2024.

On July 11, 2024, Hurwitz Fine’s President/Managing Partner Jody Briandi was ranked #50 on Buffalo Business First’s 2024 Power 200 Women, a list of some of the most influential and talented women in Buffalo who have fueled economic, social, and cultural growth throughout Western New York. This is the fifth consecutive year that Jody has been featured on the annual Power 200 Women list. 

Hurwitz Fine was recently honored by the University at Buffalo Law Students with Disabilities and Neurodivergencies (LSDN) with the 2024 Allyship Award. This award was given for “outstanding acts of allyship not only in our diversity statement, but also in our actions.”

Hurwitz Fine President/Managing Partner Jody Briandi was one of five WNY legal industry women leaders featured at the Buffalo Business First Table of Experts "Women in Law" panel. The discussion focused on how these individuals are working toward attracting women to the legal profession and giving them the opportunities to rise to leadership roles.

Every year, Hurwitz Fine partners with a local organization to host our annual Adopt-A-Family Drive. This December, the firm's Wellness & Culture Committee partnered with P.U.N.T. Pediatric Cancer Collaborative, to bring some holiday cheer to a local family that is currently battling pediatric cancer.  

Hurwitz Fine President/Managing Partner Jody Briandi was honored by the Amherst Chamber of Commerce as the "2023 Woman of Distinction" at their annual "The Event - Celebrating Business Excellence." This award honors a female professional who has excelled in her field and continues to provide the Western New York region with leadership, professionalism and community engagement.

Hurwitz Fine member and WBASNY immediate past president Anastasia M. McCarthy was presented with the Crystal Buffalo Award at the annual WBASNY Installation. 

Hurwitz Fine’s Long Island office and family and friends recently partnered with national non-profit The Girls Empowerment Movement, Inc. (GEM) for their “Operation Sparkle” community service event.

On September 29, 2023, Hurwitz Fine Member and ABOTA President Michael F. Perley organized the Ninth James Otis Lecture at the Robert H. Jackson Courthouse, U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York. The event served to educate Buffalo high school students on the topic of Race, Justice & Public Education and how America can fulfill its promise of equal opportunity in today's environment. 

Firm President/Managing Partner Jody Briandi authored two articles on law practice management and Insurance Coverage Member Dan Kohane co-authored an article on insurance coverage developments.

Hurwitz Fine Firm President/Managing Partner Jody E. Briandi was a featured panelist at the Buffalo Niagara Partnership’s 2023 DEI Symposium on June 1, 2023, where Jody discussed "DEI Successes & Challenges at Work" during the Micro Learning Sessions.

Hurwitz Fine Attorney Diane F. Bosse is the American Bar Association's 2023 Robert J. Kutak Award Recipient. The Kutak Award is presented annually to honor an individual who has made significant contributions to the collaboration of the legal academy, the bench, and the bar.

On April 28th and May 19th, as part of Hurwitz Fine's ongoing community service initiative, employees attended two community service days, organized by our DEI and Safety & Wellness Committees, in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity.
