Hurwitz Fine Welcomes Eight Attorneys to its Expanding General Litigation Team Across New York State

Hurwitz Fine P.C. is pleased to announce the addition of eight attorneys to its General Litigation team, further strengthening the firm’s depth and experience across multiple offices and practice areas. The new hires bring litigation experience defending clients in complex tort, insurance, and general negligence matters throughout New York State.

  • Nicole D. Schreib has joined Hurwitz Fine’s Buffalo office as special counsel. With more than 25 years of experience in civil litigation, Ms. Schreib focuses her practice on defending matters involving medical malpractice, long-term care and nursing home facilities, premises liability, and general negligence. Prior to joining Hurwitz Fine, she served as Assistant Staff Counsel to a large national insurance carrier for over a decade and previously represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of tort and malpractice matters. Ms. Schreib earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University at Buffalo School of Law, where she served as Head Note and Comment Editor of the Buffalo Law Review, and her B.A. in English with a teaching certificate from SUNY Geneseo.
     
  • Jessica L. Deren joins Hurwitz Fine’s Buffalo office as an associate, focusing her practice on defending New York State Labor Law and construction matters, as well as general negligence litigation. Ms. Deren brings more than 15 years of civil litigation experience and previously served as Assistant Staff Counsel to a national insurance carrier, handling a wide range of tort actions. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from American University’s Washington College of Law, where she was Articles Editor of the Administrative Law Review, and her B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University.
     
  • Brigette R. Whitmore has joined the firm in Buffalo as an associate. She focuses her practice on insurance defense with an emphasis on personal injury claims arising from motor vehicle accidents and premises liability. With over 20 years of civil litigation experience, Ms. Whitmore previously served as Assistant Staff Counsel to a large national insurance carrier and has represented both public authorities and private clients in personal injury actions. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Western Michigan University, where she served as Publicity Editor of the Law Review, and her B.A. in Political Science from SUNY Albany. She also holds a Certificate in Paralegal Studies from Canisius College.
     
  • Marten R. Violante joins Hurwitz Fine in Buffalo as an associate, where she handles matters involving New York State Labor Law, premises liability, and automobile liability. Ms. Violante brings extensive experience defending high-exposure tort actions, including construction defect, jobsite accidents, and catastrophic loss cases. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University at Buffalo School of Law and dual B.A. degrees in Political Science and Italian, summa cum laude, from SUNY Buffalo.
     
  • Jordan Beal has joined the firm’s Rochester office as an associate. His practice focuses on defending automobile liability and complex asbestos exposure claims, representing insurers, businesses, and individuals in toxic tort, product liability, and motor vehicle cases. Mr. Beal earned his J.D. from Syracuse University, where he also obtained a Master of Science in Forensic Science, and a B.A. in Political Science from Brigham Young University. Before joining Hurwitz Fine, he served as a Public Defender in both New Mexico and Monroe County, New York.
     
  • Dana M. Aprigliano joins the firm’s Melville office as an associate, where she defends individuals and businesses in a wide range of matters, including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, construction accidents, negligent security, and general negligence claims. Ms. Aprigliano earned her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, where she served as Executive Publications Editor of the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review and as a Teaching Fellow for first-year students. She holds a B.A. in Classics and English, summa cum laude, from Hofstra University.
     
  • Zachary J. Raber has joined the firm’s Buffalo office as an associate pending admission. His practice focuses on defending premises liability, complex asbestos exposure, and mass and toxic tort claims. Mr. Raber earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University at Buffalo School of Law, where he served as a Publications Editor for the Buffalo Law Review, and was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for his achievements in Trial Technique. He earned his B.A. in Political Science and Law, magna cum laude, from the University at Buffalo. He gained practical experience through several legal internships, including with the Erie County District Attorney’s Office and a local personal injury firm handling motorcycle and railroad (FELA) cases. He later clerked with Hurwitz Fine before joining the firm as an associate attorney.
     
  • James J. Crowley joins Hurwitz Fine’s Rochester office as an associate pending admission. His practice includes defending premises liability, medical malpractice, and motor vehicle claims. Mr. Crowley earned his J.D. from the University at Buffalo School of Law and his B.S. in Business Management, cum laude, from St. John Fisher University in 2022. He was the recipient of the Robert J. Connelly Trial Technique Award, presented to students with the top performance record in Trial Technique. Before joining the firm as an associate, Mr. Crowley clerked with Hurwitz Fine.
