Ms. Deren is an associate in the firm’s Litigation group, where she focuses her practice on defending New York State Labor Law and construction matters, as well as general negligence litigation. She brings more than 15 years of experience in civil litigation to the firm.

Before joining Hurwitz Fine, Ms. Deren served for over eight years as Assistant Staff Counsel to a large national insurance carrier, where she defended both personal and commercial policyholders in a wide range of tort actions, including construction defect, motor vehicle accidents, wrongful death, premises liability, and products liability. Earlier in her career, she represented defendants in personal injury and medical malpractice matters, and also advocated on behalf of claimants in Social Security Disability hearings and bankruptcy proceedings.

Ms. Deren earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from American University’s Washington College of Law, where she was elected Articles Editor of the Administrative Law Review. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University.

She is admitted to practice in New York State and the United States District Court for the Western District of New York.
