Alexander G. Henlin

Mr. Henlin has over 20 years of experience counseling and representing insurers and reinsurers in arbitration proceedings, litigation, and alternative dispute forums across New England and elsewhere in the Northeast.  He has served as lead counsel in both trial court and appellate proceedings and brings a practical and pragmatic perspective on intricate insurance coverage matters and bad-faith claims. Well-versed in primary and excess-layer insurance programs, encompassing both first-party and third-party risks,  he frequently addresses coverage issues in general liability, D&O, E&O and professional liability policies, including emerging risks.

Mr. Henlin has guided both cedants and reinsurers in arbitration, handling facultative certificates and treaty programs. He routinely advises both ceding and reinsuring companies on their rights and responsibilities. His experience also includes the defense of consumer financial claims against lenders and loan servicers.  He has successfully defended his clients before both trial and appeals courts across the New England region, in addition to negotiating resolution to dozens of other claims.

Mr. Henlin is a Fellow of the American College of Coverage Counsel, where he serves as co-chair of its educational dialogues committee, and is an admitted member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, where he serves as the Vice Chair of the Insurance & Reinsurance Committee with responsibility for publications.  He has served on the organizing committee for DRI conferences and has presented continuing legal education programs at the Insurance Coverage Practice Symposium.  He is active on the insurance committee of the New Hampshire Bar Association, and he is a past president of the Massachusetts Insurance & Reinsurance Bar Association.

Outside the office, Mr. Henlin is an active part of his community. He is a past chairman of American Legion New Hampshire Boys State and remains on the staff of the program, and he previously served as president of the Georgetown Club of Boston. A passionate amateur historian, Alex enjoys exploring the main streets and back roads of New England and New York, and spending time outdoors with his family.
