Hurwitz Fine Announces Expansion of its Medical Malpractice Team

In conjunction with its 45th anniversary, Hurwitz Fine P.C. announces the continued expansion of its Medical Malpractice & Nursing Home Liability team, with the addition of four talented attorneys to the team.

  • Elizabeth M. Midgley is an experienced trial attorney with success defending matters involving medical malpractice, long-term care facilities, dental malpractice, professional malpractice, legal professionalism and ethics, premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, and general negligence litigation. She regularly counsels and advises hospitals, physicians, long-term care facilities, attorneys, businesses, and other medical professionals.
     
  • Stephen M. Sorrels focuses his practice in medical and professional malpractice defense, nursing home litigation, municipal and governmental litigation, product liability, construction accidents, premises liability, school district liability and insurance defense litigation. He is an experienced trial and appellate attorney, who prioritizes client communication, community-building, and ethical responsibility.
     
  • Elizabeth G. Adymy has an extensive background in successfully representing medical providers, including private and municipal hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and physicians and physician extenders in both medical malpractice actions and professional disciplinary matters. Beth joins Hurwitz Fine with extensive knowledge and experience in appellate practice and client advocacy.
     
  • Jonathan J. Schutrum focuses his practice in medical and professional malpractice defense, nursing home litigation, municipal and governmental litigation, product liability and insurance defense litigation. He has defended legal actions in both New York State Courts and Federal Courts.

We welcome these attorneys who join our existing experienced team, which has a long history of successfully defending claims against health care professionals, hospitals and practice groups, rehabilitation centers, and long and short-term care facilities. Patrick B. Curran has dedicated his 40-year legal career to defending medical professionals and nursing homes from claims of negligence and malpractice.  He has also served as an adjunct faculty member at the University at Buffalo School of Law, and lecturer for the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and School of Nursing, as well as for other health care professional and community groups.  V. Christopher Potenza is a seasoned and trial-tested litigator, having obtained defense verdicts across New York State on complex matters. He has substantial experience defending claims at the federal, state, and appellate levels.
