Stephen M. Sorrels

Mr. Sorrels is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department where he focuses his practice in medical and professional malpractice defense, nursing home litigation, municipal and governmental litigation, product liability, construction accidents and insurance defense litigation.

An experienced trial and appellate attorney, Mr. Sorrels has successfully prosecuted and defended legal actions in both New York State Courts and Federal Courts.  As part of his medical malpractice practice, Mr. Sorrels has defended and obtained excellent outcomes for physicians, physicians’ assistants, podiatrists, dentists, mid-wives and other medical providers and practices in claims asserted for malpractice and negligence.   

In addition to his trial experience, Mr. Sorrels has been effective in obtaining summary judgments for his clients prior to trial.  He also has significant experience in handling and resolving matters through alternative dispute resolution and mediation.

Mr. Sorrels has served as adjunct faculty at Canisius College teaching the Graduate course of Law in Higher Education.  He has also presented and served as a guest lecturer for the New York State Bar Association, CLE providers and Canisius College.

Mr. Sorrels attended the University of Akron where he earned his Juris Doctor and completed his undergraduate studies in Communications and Psychology at the University of Cincinnati. He also completed studies and obtained a Masters in Science from Canisius College through the School of Education and Human Services.
