Hurwitz Fine P.C. is proud to announce that Insurance Coverage Member Agnieszka A. Wilewicz has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of The Brief, the flagship publication of the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS). Her two-year term officially began at the conclusion of the 2025 ABA Annual Meeting in Toronto and will run through the 2027 Annual Meeting.
As Editor-in-Chief, Ms. Wilewicz will oversee one of the ABA’s few remaining print magazines, continuing The Brief’s longstanding mission to deliver timely, high-quality content to more than 30,000 practitioners in tort and insurance law.
Reflecting on her new role, Ms. Wilewicz expressed enthusiasm for the year ahead: “As I begin my tenure as Editor-in-Chief, I am thrilled to take the baton from Peter Biging, who has skillfully led The Brief through a period of evolution and renewal. Despite the challenges of recent years after pandemic-related disruptions, our publication is back on track, now publishing quarterly and gaining momentum with each issue. We are moving full steam ahead.”
Under Ms. Wilewicz’s leadership, The Brief will continue to spotlight key developments at the forefront of tort and insurance law, with recent editions exploring the impact of artificial intelligence, environmental and financial implications of natural disasters, developments in attorney-client privilege, and emerging Supreme Court decisions affecting the insurance industry. The Editorial Board has also grown significantly, positioning the publication for continued expansion and innovation.
Ms. Wilewicz currently serves in multiple leadership roles within the ABA’s Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section, including as Immediate Past Chair of the Excess, Surplus Lines & Reinsurance Committee; Vice Chair of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee; and a member of the General Committee Board Standing Committee, which oversees all 32 TIPS general committees.
Her appointment will be formally recognized at the upcoming TIPS Fall Meeting, October 16–19, 2025, at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.
