Ms. Calabrese is an attorney in the Litigation Department of Hurwitz Fine’s Albany-area office. She focuses her practice on Premises Liability, Child Victims Act & Sexual Misconduct Coverage & Defense, Automobile Liability and Medical Malpractice & Nursing Home Liability.

During her almost 20-year legal career, Ms. Calabrese has been solely responsible for the management and direction of hundreds of cases, throughout all stages of the litigation process, to include her management of pre-litigation investigations, through post-trial and appellate proceedings. She has tried over 100 cases to verdict in various courtrooms throughout the State of New York. Ms. Calabrese is an expert in the management of the most significant of matters, from civil actions valued at more than $30 Million to criminal matters of the highest-level offenses, with an objective measure of significant success throughout the entirety of her career. She is a frequent guest lecturer throughout the state on sexual misconduct and investigations.

Prior to joining Hurwitz Fine, she served as exclusive legal advisor and litigation defense counsel on behalf of New York State Agencies, in all tort actions filed in the Court of Claims and the exclusive legal advisor and litigation defense counsel on behalf of New York State employees, in all tort actions filed in Supreme Court. She previously worked at the New York State Office of the Attorney General, the New York State Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs and at the New York State Appellate Division, Third Department.

She is the recipient the 2023 New York State Office of the Attorney General Louis J. Lefkowitz Memorial Award in recognition of outstanding performance on behalf of the Office of the New York State Attorney General and the People of New York, specifically as it related to the defense of the recently enacted Child Victims and Adult Survivors Acts; the recipient of the 2020 – 2021 Union University at Albany Law School’s Gabrielli Memorial Award in honor of her work and in appreciation for outstanding service and dedication in promoting the principles, practices and objectives of the Anthony V. Cardona, ’70, Moot Court Program at Albany Law School; and the recipient of a Special Recognition Award in 2013 from the Albany County District Attorney in recognition of her dedicated service to law enforcement and the people of Albany County.

Ms. Calabrese received her Juris Doctorate from Union University at Albany Law School, where she focused her study of the law almost exclusively to the art of trial practice, including engagement in moot court and mock trial programs and competitions, along with a significant commitment to experiential learning through internship and clinical programs. She received her Bachelor of Arts in political science from Plattsburgh State University, electing to broaden and advance her studies through the addition of a semester studying abroad in Chester, England, with a focus on comparative government systems and international law, and an internship with the New York State Assembly, Chambers of Assemblyman Martin A. Luster, (D-125th), where she worked alongside Assemblyman Luster. 

Ms. Calabrese resides in Niskayuna, New York, with her husband, who is a combat veteran, and two children. She is active within her children’s lacrosse and soccer leagues, and enjoys skiing with her family.
