
Ms. Hart is Special Counsel in the firm’s Insurance Coverage Practice Group. She focuses her practice on insurance coverage analysis and litigation of both first-and third-party claims. She has over 20 years of experience in Insurance Law. In her most recent role as claims counsel to a large insurance company, Ms. Hart provided real time coverage advice and legal strategy to the claims department on complex coverages issues, risk transfer and bad faith.
Ms. Hart earned her Juris Doctor from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, graduating cum laude, and her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from St. Thomas Aquinas College, where she graduated summa cum laude.
During law school, she served as both a member and an editor of Pace’s International Law Review. Notably, she was one of only two members during her two-year tenure to have her law review article published. Following law school, Ms. Hart served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Brian R. Martinotti in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen County, working in both the Chancery Division: Family Part and the Law Division: Civil Part.
Licensed in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, with a past focus on New Jersey practice, Ms. Hart has nine years of experience as an Insurance Defense Litigator, both as an associate with panel counsel as well as a staff attorney for an insurance carrier. After such experience, she spent 12 years working for two carriers as Coverage and Claims Counsel, handling both first-party and third-party claims. Most recently, she focused on Commercial General Liability and Auto Dealers Coverage.
Ms. Hart's time spent working for carriers gives her a well-oiled knowledge of various carrier perspectives and the “how” and “why” of decision making. By using this knowledge, she is well-equipped to offer a deeper understanding of each client's unique needs and goals.
