Ms. Lopez is an attorney in the firm’s General Litigation Practice Group. She focuses her practice on premises and automobile liability cases, and the defense of Child Victims Act claims.
Before Ms. Lopez began law practice, she was an inaugural legal fellow with the Franklin H. Williams Judicial Commission for the New York State Unified Court System. The commission educates and advises decisionmakers in the New York State Court System on issues that affect both employees and litigants of color, and it implements recommendations devised to address those issues. As part of her fellowship, Ms. Lopez conducted research and helped draft commission reports to stakeholders, legislators, and the public on family-based initiatives for Family Court reform. She also prepared legal memoranda on often complex issues in civil matters, and drafted decisions and orders on motions for various judges in New York State Supreme Court, Family Court, and the Court of Claims. Moreover, she had the honor of co-authoring an article on civil service examinations with the Eighth Judicial District’s Administrative Judge.
In 2021, Ms. Lopez graduated from the City University of New York School of Law. She served as the Managing Editor of CUNY Law Review, a publication dedicated to producing premiere public interest scholarship.
During law school, Ms. Lopez had the privilege of serving as a student attorney in Main Street Legal Services, Inc.’s Disability and Aging Justice Clinic. For clinic, she was a court evaluator in Article 81 guardianship proceedings; drafted and submitted a rebuttal with co-counsel on behalf of a client in her discrimination case before the New York City Commission on Human Rights; and assisted the Civil Rights Education and Enforcement Center with fact investigation for a preliminary injunction in the Fraihat v. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement class action lawsuit.
She also completed internships with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the New York State Supreme Court, New York County.
