Scott Michael Duquin is an attorney in the Litigation Department who focuses his practice on insurance defense litigation matters such as toxic tort litigation, catastrophic injury, automobile liability and product liability. He also has significant experience in business litigation matters such as contract disputes, employee theft, unemployment hearings and bankruptcy matters.
Mr. Duquin heads the firm’s lead-based paint litigation practice where he is regularly engaged in the defense of property owners and managers. He has also been a featured columnist on developments in lead-based paint litigation in the firm’s biweekly electronic newsletter, Coverage Pointers.
Mr. Duquin has significant trial experience, having taken numerous matters to verdict, and is also regularly engaged in defending matters through mediation and arbitration. He has extensive experience in drafting and arguing appellate matters in a wide range of practice areas including civil rights, labor law, product liability, automotive and premises liability.
Mr. Duquin serves on the board of the not-for-profit Midday Club.
Prior to joining Hurwitz & Fine, P.C., Mr. Duquin was a general solo practitioner who handled diverse matters from property transactions to criminal defense.
Mr. Duquin earned his Juris Doctor from the University at Buffalo Law School and graduated from the State University of New York College at Fredonia with a Bachelor’s degree with dual majors in Economics and Political Science.
