Lawrence M. Ross
Lawrence M. Ross is a partner with the firm where the focus of his business and corporate law practice are Health law, taxation, and employee benefits. He represents a wide variety of institutional, group and individual providers of health care services. Mr. Ross
advises clients on corporate and regulatory matters including mergers, consolidations and affiliations, managed care contracting, practice and risk management, and the formation of provider networks and alliances. Mr. Ross has organized single and multi-specialty group practices and hospital-affiliated medical practices, and has assisted in the amendment and restatement of hospital medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations.
He also has considerable experience in the buying and selling of medical and dental practices and in the formation of such partially integrated groups as independent practice associations (IPAs), management service organizations (MSOs) and shared overhead
arrangements. He has structured tax-exempt medical and research foundations, ambulatory surgical centers, faculty practice plan organizations and hospital practice arrangements for physicians.
Mr. Ross has substantial experience before state and federal healthcare and tax agencies including the Internal Revenue Service, the New York State Departments of Health, Education, Insurance and Taxation and Finance, and the Federal and New York State
Department of Labor.
Mr. Ross is a lecturer and writer on health law, tax and pension topics. He frequently appears before professional societies on the business aspects of the practice of medicine, is on the presentation panel for the Medical Society of the State of New York for the Quick Learn Series for Residents and annually participates as a speaker
during Incoming Residents’ Week at the State University of New York at Buffalo Schools of Medicine and Biomedical Science and Dental Medicine. He also is responsible for publication of the firm’s electronic healthcare law newsletter.
In 2006, Mr. Ross was chosen by Business First as one of the region’s top 50 most influential and innovative leaders in the health sciences community. Mr. Ross was the only lawyer included in this prestigious listing.
Admitted to practice law in New York State, New Jersey and Nebraska, Mr. Ross is a member of the Health Law Committees of the New York and Erie County Bar Associations and the County Bar Association’s Liaison Committee to the Erie County Medical Society. He is also a member of the American Health Lawyers Association.
Mr. Ross is a cum laude graduate of Ohio State University (B.A. 1975) where he served as Chief Justice of the Undergraduate Student Judicial Commission. He earned his Juris Doctorate at the
University at Buffalo Law School, where he was research editor and member of the editorial board of the Buffalo Law Review, and is a current member of the Board of Directors for the Law Alumni. Mr. Ross also earned a Masters in Taxation from New York University.
Mr. Ross previously served as President of the Kadimah School of Buffalo and on the Board of Directors of the American Jewish Committee, Buffalo/Niagara Chapter.
