Evanko Honored As Athena Award Winner

Ann. E. Evanko, Vice President of Hurwitz & Fine, P.C., was named the 2008 Athena Award winner. The award is given by the Western New York Women's Fund and the Buffalo Niagara Partnership to an individual who demonstrates support for the goals of women professionals, and provides significant and selfless assistance on their behalf.
Kohane Named To Top International Insurance Lawyers List

Dan D. Kohane, a senior member of Hurwitz & Fine, P.C., was named to the internationally recognized 2008 Euromoney Guide to the World's Leading Insurance and Reinsurance Lawyers, one of only 300 lawyers selected in the United States and the only lawyer selected from New York State, outside of New York City. The selection process involves querying more than 3,500 senior practitioners or in-house counsel asking them to nominate leading lawyers in the field based on their work, capabilities and reputation. Mr. Kohane focuses his practice in insurance coverage throughout New York State and consults nationally.
Hurwitz & Fine Attorneys Named To Best Lawyers List

Robert P. Fine, Harry F. Mooney and Ann E. Evanko were selected by their peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2007 list as announced in the December 17th issue of the statewide New York magazine. Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive peer-review survey in which 24,000 leading attorneys throughout the country cast almost two million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their specialties, and because lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed, inclusion in Best Lawyers is considered a singular honor. Corporate Counsel magazine has called best Lawyers "the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice."
Kohane And Seeley Write The Book On Coverage

Firm attorneys Dan Kohane and Audrey Seeley have authored a chapter entitled "Managing the Relationship Between the Coverage Case and Underlying Litigation," in the New Appleman Insurance Law Practice Guide, to be published by LexisNexis in January 2008. Both Mr. Kohane and Ms. Seeley concentrate their practice in complex coverage matters.

Robert Kiebala Memorial Award. The recognition is presented annually by the
Defense Trial Lawyers Association of Western New York to a defense attorney who
has made significant contributions to the profession. Mr. Mooney was one of the
founding members of the local association which started in 1990 under the
direction of the national Defense Research Institute.
Previous winners of this highly distinguished award include Sheldon Hurwitz.

Hurwitz & Fine, P.C. has named Jody E. Briandi a Member of the firm where she has practiced law as an Associate since 1997. Ms. Briandi will continue to focus her practice in municipal, premises, professional and product liability matters. Ms. Briandi earned her Juris Doctorate from the New England School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts. She is also a graduate of the State University of New York at Oswego, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing Arts and Communication Studies.

Perley Heads Local Chapter of National Trial Advocacy Group

Firm member Michael F. Perley is now President of the Buffalo Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) whose primary mission is the preservation of the civil jury trial sytem with the rights and duties of each American decided by our fellow citizens, not by a bureaucratic governmental agency. The association seeks lawyers who display skill, civility and integrity, and a willingness to help younger attorneys achieve a higher level of trial advocacy and to educate the public about the vital importance of the Seventh Amendment. |
