Nine Named To Best Lawyers List

Hurwitz & Fine, P.C. is proud to announce that 15 of the firm's attorneys were identified by other lawyers as outstanding in their respective fields in the 2010 New York Super Lawyers Magazine Upstate New York edition. Only 5% of lawyers make the final list yet 50% of Hurwitz & Fine, P.C. attorneys were recognized through this multi-phase selection process which surveys attorneys across the state to determine which counsel have attained the highest degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. With 7 attorneys named to the list of the Top 50 most highly regarded attorneys in all of New York State outside of New York City, the firm is especially proud to comprise almost 15% of that distinguished list. Diane F. Bosse has joined the Buffalo law firm of Hurwitz & Fine, P.C. as Of Counsel. Ms. Bosse has practiced law in Buffalo, New York for over 30 years with her principal areas of focus including toxic tort and product liability claims and related commercial and coverage matters. Ms. Bosse has devoted a substantial portion of her professional life to bar admissions and legal education. We proudly welcome her to the firm.
Seeley Named To 40 Under Forty

Hurwitz & Fine, P.C., is pleased to announce that Audrey A. Seeley has been named as one of Buffalo Business First's 40 Under Forty. Every year Business First recognizes forty individuals under the age of 40 for their professional success and community involvement. "Each of these individuals has made it their mission to contribute in extraordinary ways to their communities and the quality of life we all enjoy in the Buffalo Niagara region," said Jack Connors, Business First publisher and president.
Raised in a rural community and particularly mindful of the unique challenges facing children in the Southern Tier, Ms. Seeley is an active participant in the Junior Achievement program based in the Springville Griffith Institute School District, where she teaches high school students how to be competitive and successful in a global economy. Ms. Seeley is a charter Board Member of Buffalo Sabre Patrick Kaleta's HITS (Helping Individuals To Smile) Foundation and is involved in advancing the Foundation's goal of enhancing opportunities for individuals in rural areas and enabling them to participate in sports and educational programs that may not be available to them due to their geographic location or economic condition. She is actively working with the HITS Foundation to raise the initial capital for the construction of a sports complex in the Village of Springville in order to provide more educational and sports programs in the Southern Tier.
Seeley Presented Prestigious Hurwitz Award By State Bar

Audrey A. Seeley was presented the Sheldon Hurwitz Young Lawyer of the Year Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field by the Torts, Insurance and Compensation Law Section of the New York State Bar Association. The award, named for the co-founder of Hurwitz & Fine, P.C., is a distinct honor awarded to a lawyer admitted ten years or less who has made a significant impact in the industry.
Sommers Joins Board of USGBC

Kirstin Lowry Sommers, of counsel to the law firm of Hurwitz & Fine, P.C., has been elected to the Board of Directors of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Upstate New York Chapter. The USGBC sets credentialing and certification standards for LEED projects. Ms. Sommers is one of only a handful of LEED Accredited Professional attorneys in New York State and the only one in Western New York, which allows her to offer architects, engineers, municipalities and owner-developers a unique opportunity to mitigate risk in "green building." She advises clients in minimizing liability, defining contractual roles in the LEED context, anticipating coverage issues, and conducting a cost-benefit analysis of deliverables.
